[this is what 2009 looked like in case you forgot.]
Ah, December - here you are again. My beard is back, my nails are longer, my love is lovelier than ever. But what’s the most important thing about December? That it’s time for me to now take on what looks like is become my annual exercise in writing/blogging anymore: The Big Reveal! The End All, Be All List of Albums and Songs that I feel were the best ones put out in the calendar year of 2010.
This year’s schedule of events will go down something like this:
Friday, December 3rd: The Top 30 Songs of 2010 [w/ or w/out a download]
Monday, December 6th: The Top 50 Albums of 2010 rollout*
Rollout, eh? Yeah..that’s the ticket! As opposed to last year’s an album a day with my Top 30, I’m taking a different route. To explain, let’s go back to how this year went:
So, I have about 104 albums in contention (probably more like 120, but my handy-dandy excel lists 104, so that’s the number) and I couldn’t just narrow it down to 30. Honestly, the AOTY was just named 30 minutes ago, a bit late from last year’s February 2009 declaration about some Grizzly Bear band. Anyway, I was just deciding how I should unveil them this year and since I have 50, why not do two albums per day for 25 or so days? Either way, December 31st you’ll have Albums #1 and #2 announced for you. Discussions will be had, people will be shocked, horrified, or pleasantly surprised! Or not at all and will respond with something as simply obvious as “um, duh.”
As for the songs…yeah. I had too many of them that I didn’t not want to recognize, so last year’s Top 20 has extended by 10 this year as well. And that list will be here, for you, Friday morning. Until then, back to actually finishing that list because, well, it’s changing. Again! Ugh. #Ireallydonthavealifebut@Gianni28saiditbestthatitisjustabigpartofourlives
