Part of my regular internet routines involve snooping out record label websites to see what my favorite bands are up to, or when they have new albums coming out and what have you. I was just on the Barsuk site hoping they’d finally say “oh, hey, new MENOMENA coming” but instead I did find something else of worth!
I love my some Long Winters, absolutely. John Roderick, lead singer and now toothless man extraordinaire, gave a brand new song he’d been playing live last fall to the charity GIVESeattle. It’s called “Not Moving To Portland”. I think it’s awesome. Just him, an acoustic guitar, some percussion, and some piano sprinkled in the background for effect. All caught on the fly. Oh, and Kathleen Edwards providing the harmonies. Yum.
GIVESeattle has over 30 songs for you to download, all for charity, for $7.
